Welcome to Providence Canadian Reformed Church. If this is your first time “meeting” us, and you haven’t been to one of our worship services yet, then we hope that this website can help you learn a little bit about our congregation.
My name is Pastor Mark ten Haaf – I’m new here, too. I became the pastor of Providence just a few months ago in November of 2019. My whole family—my wife, Stephanie, and our six children—have been lovingly welcomed into this church, and we want to extend this kind of welcome to all who find their way through our doors and who want to live their lives in service to Jesus Christ as part of our church.
We have been here in Edmonton since 1950. We’re part of the Canadian Reformed Churches, a group of around 60 reformed churches whose history is rooted in the Protestant Reformation of the 1500’s. You can find out more about our group of churches by visiting the Canadian Reformed Churches website.
The focal point of our life as a community of God’s people is Sunday worship. We gather for worship in the morning and the afternoon to hear the preaching of God’s Word, to communicate to God with song and with prayer, to give offerings, to receive the pronouncement of his blessings, and also to have fellowship with one another. And although Sunday worship is the focal point of the Christian life, this worship affects every corner of our lives. It’s our duty and our passion to be living testimonies to the grace that God has shown to us in his Son Jesus Christ!
Please feel free to explore our website. You’ll be able to learn more about what we believe, what kinds of activities we engage in, what our worship services are like, and more.
